Hollywood Icon, Gene Hackman, wife and dog found dead at home in Santa Fe

Award winner Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa a classical pianist, and a German Shepherd dog were found on February 26 dead. It was not until 2:30 AM EDT that the Santa Fe county Sheriff identified the couple and their dog. They lived on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park, NM. The victims were found inside the house. Mr Hackman was in a side room near the kitchen and his wife was in the bathroom with one of the three German Shepherd's next to her. The other two German Shepherds were found alive and well walking around the house and property. Sheriff reports that the investigation is still going on and they have no idea of what happened to the couple and their dog. Hackman was 95 years old and Arakawa was 63. The couple had married in 1991 and Hackman lived in New Mexico since the mid 1980's. The star had won 2 Academy Awards; one for the French Connection in 1972 and the other, Unforgiven. His first big success in acting was in the movie, Hoosiers in 1986. Hackman was one the finest in Hollywood also winning 2 BAFTA, 4 Golden Globe and 1 SAG award.
